How to act in front of a burn? Burns are areas of tissue damaged by heat (including the friction caused by electricity), or cold, caustic chemicals or radiation.

The severity of a burn depends on the area burned and the depth of the lesion.

What to do about a burn?
• If the subject's clothes are on fire, pushing down derríbele. Extinguish the flames with a large piece of fabric, such as a sleeve, a rug or coat.

• If possible, remove any objects that could push such as rings, bracelets, belts and shoes. The burned area probably will swell, and it will be impossible to remove such objects.

• In first-degree burns keep the burned area in cold water for about 10 minutes or until the pain subsides. Never do the same with the burns of a second or third grade.

• Cover the burn with a sterile dressing. Use a piece of clean, dry cloth. Touch as little as possible of the burn area. Never apply lotions or ointments.

• If the victim is conscious, give small sips cold drinks in regular intervals, but no alcohol. If unconscious, place in a position to keep airway clear.

• If possible, place the burned area and the victim's legs higher than your head to reduce the effects of shock.

• Get medical help urgently.
